This finely-crafted documentary faithfully tells the story of Charles Piazzi Smyth, Scotland’s Royal Astronomer for 42 years, who in 1856 with the assistance of his wife, Jessica, pioneered the modern practice of placing telescopes at high altitudes to enjoy the best observing conditions; it features interviews with many notable astronomers, including Brian May, the lead guitarist for the rock group, “Queen”; also, as the story builds, we meet astrophysics students and professors as they recreate the astronomer’s groundbreaking experiments on the slopes of Mt. Teide, in the Canary Islands./p>
