22. Someone Just Like Me (Physically Challenged People)

14-year-old Danny loves soccer and the special soccer ball his grandfather gave him is his favorite. When he meets a new student, Andrea, who walks with an artificial leg, he unintentionally insults her by presuming she may not be able to do certain things for herself. Upset with himself, he kicks his soccer ball, which bounces off a wall and temporarily knocks Danny out of reality and into Nilus the Sandman's dream world of animated garbage. Here tin cans and paint cans live together with burnt-out Buicks and old stoves. It's a world where pieces of garbage vie for the opportunity to be selected by the Great Claw and go on to a better place. But when Danny sees the Great Claw, he is quick to judge it as detrimental to the garbage community. After he causes a total sense of pandemonium and chaos in the garbage world, he learns an important lesson about pre-judging the Claw; a lesson that carries over in the real word and when he comes to he makes a new start with Andrea. 05/08DE PI 30 min.
