Professor Greg introduces children to the country of Mexico, located in North America, but very much a Latin American culture. First we travel to Ensenada, the third-largest city in the state of Baja California, which is located about 70 miles south of Tijuana; here we meet seven-year-old Rebecca Jose Torres, who is of Aztec Indian descent. We visit her home and school; listen to a Mariachi band and enjoy a delicious tamale; then we experience a Mexican Mardi Gras, where her friend Victor Mendoza Reales has been crowned King of the parade; we meet her artist friend, Carlos, who gives her some painting tips, and Nina, who teaches children ceramics and sculpture; then we visit the area's famous Blowhole, La Bufadora in Spanish, one of only three such waterspouts in the world. Next we travel to Maneadero, Baja California, and meet a Oaxacan Indian, Epifanio Sandoval Garcia, 13, who helps his family create arts and crafts as a means of survival. 00/08DE PIJ 30 min.
