We travel to the "land down under," the island continent of Australia, and first visit Bradley Dehlsen, 12, and Grant Dehlsen, 10, in their home. Like most boys their age they love to participate in sports and are proud of their trophies in soccer and cricket; both attend school and have to do homework, which their "mum" helps them with. Bradley loves to skateboard and dance; Grant is into music and plays a song on his trombone; and they both love their favorite snack, Vegemite. They live in the largest city in the country, Sydney, home to the Sydney Opera House and Centrepoint Tower (a.k.a. Sydney Tower), the city's tallest freestanding structure. The boys love to visit the Koala Park, where we get a good look at Koala bears and kangaroos. We discover that because Australia is located in the southern hemisphere its seasons are opposite those of the northern hemisphere. We travel to the remote Outback territory and meet the native people of Australia, the Aborigines, and watch them perform one of their traditional dances; we too learn how these people are integrating into a unified Australian society. 00/08DE PIJ 30 min.
