We travel to the Caribbean and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, where we begin by meeting 14-year-old Vilma Nieves Vazquez, who lives and goes to high school in Guayama; here we spend a day with her at her school, where she learns English, Spanish, as well as basic electricity and woodworking skills. After school she shows us a traditional folk dance; then we get to see a performance of Puerto Rican music and dance by La Compania Musica Perla de Sur. Next we travel to the capital, San Juan, and meet 12-year-old Gustavo Lugo, who shows us his skills using computers; also he loves water sports and tennis. Most Puerto Ricans are Catholic and on Sundays we discover Gustavo and his family attend the San Ignacio Church. We close the program on a sightseeing tour of Old San Juan, which is filled with history and culture, and is a popular destination for tourists. It's also a great place to play dominoes! 09DR PIJ 30 min.
