Some things about Finland are easy to see; it is a Nordic country that borders Sweden on the west, Russia on the east, Norway on the north, and its capital city is Helsinki; this much anyone can learn from reading a map. But to really learn about Finland, its geography, its history, its commerce and its people; it's best see it in person and to learn about it from someone who is Finnish, which is what this documentary is all about. Here we see the true Suomi, the Finnish word for Finland, filmed entirely on-location. We learn of its many ties with Sweden; its break for independence from Russia in 1917; its tremendous Olympic heritage; its diverse geographic regions; its peat and mosses; its sparsely-populated northern region of Lapland; Nokia phones and, of course, its famous saunas.
