The Art Glass Wall

Art Glass Wall, The

"Highly Recommended. Does an excellent job of showing the viewer how the process works. One discovers not only how the piece is created, but also how artists and architects can collaborate." -EMRO Review
The "Art Glass Wall" was conceived by architects Gensler and Associates and consists of 56 panels of carved glass held in place by polished steel brackets; each row of panels is individually lit with fiber optics installed in a curved wall. The Wallach Glass Studio developed the concept from the initial design to the final installation; art director and designer Christine Wallach supervised every aspect of the project. Narrated by Melissa Bloom, this engrossing documentary delineates each step in the process of creating this glass architectural wall. Viewers see the design concept, detailed preliminary drawings, preparation of glass panels for sandblasting, the actual sandblasted carving of the design, and fiber optic lighting for luminosity. Produced by Flaming Heart Productions. 06/10DE JSCA 18 min.
