Spain 3: San Sebastian and Mallorca

Spain 3: San Sebastian and Mallorca

The town of San Sebastian dates back to 1000 A.D. when it was a small hamlet of 1200 people who devoted their lives to fishing. In this program we visit the enormous fish markets and see how the industry has grown over time; also our visit reveals the landscape that inspired Robert Graves, author of I, Claudius. Next we visit Mallorca where Frédéric Chopin composed much of his music - his exquisite surroundings surely inspired his work. This island is still as beautiful as ever; partly due to its diversity. The scenery is not constant: on the north side waves crash against the rocky shore; whereas on the beaches of the south side the water gently ebbs and flows. The island's inhabitants come from all over the world so everyone who visits will immediately feel at home. There is also plenty to do: people participate in watersports and play golf year-round because the weather is always wonderful. 03/09DE IJSCA 30 min.
