AIDS Awareness for Children
AIDS is a terrible disease that continues to infect and kill people throughout the world. Although there are drugs to battle AIDS and HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus that causes AIDS, no vaccine or cure has yet been found; the key to preventing infections and helping control the spread of AIDS and HIV is education. The best time to begin teaching people about AIDS and HIV is when they are young. Of course, because AIDS can be spread by sex and infected-needle exchange, how AIDS and HIV are presented to young children must be addressed appropriately. This program features the performance group
"Kids and Company"
and their professional guests who tackle the very serious concerns young children face about AIDS and HIV with care and concise information. "Kids and Company" perform two original songs:
Don't Worry,
which assures children they can continue doing their everyday activities without fear of becoming HIV-infected, and
Be Aware,
which emphasizes that anyone at any age can make positive choices for a safe, healthy life. Educators and parents are advised that this version of the program includes the four proven ways a person can become HIV-infected; however, in
Level 1,
the information about sex and infected-needle exchange is not included. Produced by Kids and Company. 2010DR/CL IJ 20 min.
