Adaptive Skiing Techniques Series

Adaptive Skiing Techniques Series

Ski slopes do not have to be out of bounds for the physically challenged any longer. Disabled Sports USA and Professional Ski Instructors of America have developed in a joint project an adaptive ski instructor certification program for teaching physically challenged people to ski. Divided into two skill levels, Beginning and Intermediate, the series offers overviews of the specialized equipment used by adaptive skiers to compensate for lack of muscular control; also shown are the hand's-on methods used by adaptive ski instructors to help their students compensate for lack of balance and to learn steering methods. Produced by John Sandy Productions. Series: 2 programs (30 to 50 minutes).
Also by John Sandy Productions: Physically Challenged Children in Physical Education; Sports Competition Library; Extreme Sports Competition Library; Colorado Adventures Series; Altitude Destination: Crested Butte, Colorado
