| The name Mondavi is synonymous with greatness in the world of great wines. The Robert Mondavi Winery, located in Napa Valley, California, is considered one of the finest wineries in the world and is visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year. Margrit Biever joined the winery in 1967; then in 1980 married Robert, who shared her interest in uniting wine with fine arts, music and culinary artistry. Robert was quoted as saying, "Margrit created a showplace for painters, sculptors, photographers, jazz and classical musicians and the great chefs and winemakers of the world." This historical documentary presents their incredible story prior to the death of Robert, who passed away May 16, 2008 at the age of 94. While Robert would take care of the winery, Margrit organized concerts, art exhibitions, the promotion of young artists, and even designed labels for their wines. Together, they cooked and entertained visitors who hailed from every corner of the world. The Mondavis made lasting contributions to COPIA: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts, the Napa Valley Opera House, and the Oxbow School in Napa; as well as the Lincoln Theatre in Yountville and the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University.
