"Highly Recommended. A stunning, animated version of Eliot's classic tale
of injustice, and finally love and happiness." -National Media
Review
Based on the 1861 Victorian novel, Silas Marner, by George
Eliot (Mary Anne Evans), this is the digitally re-mastered animated
version of the classic tale. When the weaver, Silas Marner, wrongfully loses
his job, as well as the woman he loves, he moves to the English countryside
village of Raveloe, consumed with bitterness and anger, and becomes a
miserly recluse, saving each gold piece he earns. On Christmas Eve his gold
is stolen and all seems lost until an abandoned little girl, whom he names
Eppie, wanders into his house, bringing joy back into his life. "I found my
gold again," Silas says, and he raises her as his own. The bond they share
redeems the life of the village squire. Directed and Animated by Alison de
Vere. 08DR PIJSCA 30 min.
