Performing Arts Series - Level 1: Children Title Listing Home Playing Shakespeare
There are many positive reasons to introduce children to Shakespeare. His plays are the most performed in the world; plus it introduces children to history, English, poetry, drama, comedy, not to mention all those famous quotes. Using a fun combination of rhyme, live action and computer graphics, this program gives children a jumpstart into the world of the playwright, introducing them to four of his most famous plays, Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. They learn about each play's plot, its central characters and themes, and then are encouraged to read the featured play to find out how it ends. Here, of course, is where adults may assist young readers, be it by reading with them, or attending a play or watching a movie of the play. Produced by TV Ontario. 2008 PI 15 min.
