Teacher, storyteller, and comedienne, Evelyn Zola (1924 - 2003) was known as "America's First Lady of Deaf Senior Citizens;" she was a Sign Language teacher for 31 years, won the "Deaf Senior of the Year Award," and was inducted into the Jewish Deaf Congress Hall of Fame. Using American Sign Language (ASL), and wearing her trademark toga, she presents personal recollections as well as deaf humor, providing insight from her perspective as a successful deaf adult. Hands Up: An Intro to Sign Language
Sign Language - it's not something only for people who are deaf or hard of hearing; it's something that almost everyone can do. Sign language can be fun and very rewarding for everyone who uses it. It's a great help to introduce children to sign language at an early age, which is the key point of this program. Here, two hosts, Gisele and Cheryl, visit a school for deaf children where students there demonstrate the signs for common words used every day.
