History tells us that on Christmas Eve, 1818, in the small, picturesque Alpine village of Mariapfarr, Austria, the immortal Christmas carol, Silent Night, which was written by Josef Mohr and Franz Gruber, was sung for the very first time. But there's much more to the story than that. In this enchanting and magical tale actress Lynn Redgrave reveals a curious story, "handed down by word-of-mouse," about a small boy, Felix, whose wish to create a very special tune for Christmas Day is granted with the assistance of his friend, Nonny, a mouse. Shot on location, the program includes beautiful music, period costumes, and also features Gregor Fisher, John Cairney, Bill McCue, Jack McKenzie, Phil McCall and Richard Blane. Directed by Robin Crichton. 08DR/CL PIJSCA 55 min.

2c. Santa and the Dinosaur
"Everyone knows Santa Claus uses reindeer to deliver his presents on Christmas Eve. What people don't know is, one year he almost had to use a dinosaur." So begins a wonderfully told story of Santa, a loveable dinosaur, and a mysterious Namwons creature, who are all part of a largely unknown legend about the disappearance of Santa's reindeer just before Christmas. Based on the short story and artwork by Dana Schnabel. 10 min.
2d. Amalie's Christmas Picnic
Amalie is excited that Christmas is so close, and she's hoping her parents will take her out to eat and celebrate the holiday. Instead of going out to a restaurant, her parents have a better idea: they help her go "out" on a Christmas picnic with her furry and feathery friends! The moral of the story is clear: don't forget to feed your pets and animal friends. Based on the short story by Karen Appleton and artwork by Dana Schnabel. 7 min.
